DIAPROLEC, a project born to protect advanced electric systems

Diagnosis and Protection of Electric Systems with Power Converters (DIAPROLEC) is a project conformed by five interdisciplinary organizations focused on protect applications where actual industrial relays fail. These systems, generally conformed with power electronics are H2 and Li-ion battery energy storage systems, STATCOMs, electric transportation systems and distributed generation among others.

DIAPROLEC has been focused on different tasks of diagnosis and protection (D&P) attending to the elements to protect. They are distributed in converter D&P, drive (rotating and linear motors) D&P, protection testing and setup and integrative D&P in complex systems such as variable speed drives, H2 storage systems, Li-ion storage systems or smart DC microgrids.

Our team is formed by more than 15 experts and distinctive Ph.D. people with an average experience of 15–20 years in the field of D&P and more of 300 scientific contributions, 70 patents and 30 project participations. This team is fully committed with the project and will lead EU and Spain to the vanguard in protection and diagnosis of advance electric systems, which is one of the keys for a safe decarbonization process for a greener future.
