Diagnosis and Condition Monitoring
Most of convenctional diagnosis and protection relays have been tested in electric systems with power converters achieving bad results (lack of selectivity and accuracy among others). In this field we stablished work packages focused on TRL1 to TRL3 stages in order to find alternative methods that allow the system diagnosis and continous monitoring of different elements of electric systems such as H2 or Li-ion batteries energy storage systems, electric transportation, or distributed power generation (mainly wind, sea waves and solar energies), among others.
Protection Systems Development
Once the diagnosis and condition monitoring have been developped in simulations and experimental tests, the methods must be validated by including them in prototypes of protection relays in accordance to the advance electric systems requirements. The team focused in this part of the project is in charge of develop TRL4 protection devices and test them at small scale into our laboratories.
Experimental Validation and Application
In this part of the project, our teams work on the ensambling of the TRL4 devices into applicated systems in order to get TRL5 products testing them into scaled DC microgrids or closed to final application scenarios such as scaled wind mills, high power linear motors or electric vehicles. This allows to better fit the protection configurations in real applications and examine the real behavior of the prototypes.
Integration, Coordination and Society Approach
The integration of different developed protections, diagnosis methods and different application fields in the same electrical system will make the final step of this project in order to coordinate them. DIAPROLEC will accomplish some of the SDG established by the UN, and it will be a model to follow in the following years placing EU and Spain at the vanguard of advance electric diagnosis and protection systems for decarbonization and green applications being the safety its first commitment. To reach it, DIAPROLEC will expand its ideas creating industrial property opportunities, participating in prestigious conferences in the sector and publishing them in high impact international journals.

The technology developed by the four fields will be cutting edge research carried out by more than 15 experts and Ph. D researchers with more than 15 years of experience in protection and diagnosis of electric system.
